I spend some time reading and I am intrigued by the topic of Leadership. Dr. John Maxwell says leadership in its purest form is influence, while Jim Rohn says it is moving away from mediocrity and towards success. I tend to believe it is a combination. Leadership is influencing people not to be mediocre.
These days as I look at myself and the world I see how simple it is to be pulled into the plight of mediocrity. I catch my self being pulled into the TV set after a long day or the excuses that I will do that later I am just too tired. Then I see the toothless grin of my 6 month old looking back at me and I remember why I must be a leader. Not just at work, but at home, in community and in all I do. If I want others get off the path to mediocrity I must blaze the trail so it is easily seen and can easily be followed.
We lead because it is the right thing to do, if we continue to be a world of followers how many more great things will happen? As a nation we are looked at as leaders in this world and this cannot just be our governmental and business leaders, this has to be the mom’s and dad’s, the teachers and police officers. Each and everyone of us who go to work each and everyday and give there 100% best. We can all lead at something, find your strength and lead with it.
My goal with my initial post is to make you think. Can I lead? Should I lead? How can I lead? Let me know.
